Everyone agrees that we should not interrupt others, but sometimes it is difficult to not stop people when they go on and on forever. As a speaker, you have to be the steward of the room for the sake of others. You might have someone in your audience who tries to monopolize. This is unfair to you and to the rest of the group, so in that case you must interrupt. But do it with praise. Wait until something is said that you can agree with. Then say, “Yes, Suzanne! You are so right. Everyone, what Suzanne is saying . . .”
This honors Suzanne, AND gets the steering wheel back in your hands.
