The other day a question came to me via LinkedIn:
“When you’re a hot-blooded high-performance person, how do you keep that intensity without pushing people away or being misunderstood as being hostile instead of passionate?”
My response: Say something like, “I know I sound passionate, and I am!” Or, “Excuse my burst of energy, but I’m jumping out of my skin about this.” Report the truth.
If you can’t hide it, paint it red. If your mind goes blank, paint it red: “My mind just went blank. Somebody help me out.” If you suddenly feel teary — “I find myself moved to tears over this.”
It is refreshing to be in the presence of genuine truth.
