Be Curious Instead of Scared

Be Curious Instead of Scared 2

Every day you face opportunities to take risks or avoid them. Should you strike up a conversation with the woman in line at Target? Should you offer to help someone who might need assistance? Should you respond to someone who makes eye contact and smiles at you?

I’m all for being alert to potential danger, but I’m also all for taking social risks that might build goodwill in my little corner of the world.

In my “coaching for powerful communication” sessions, my question is often, “What’s the worst that could happen if you took this risk?” Most people can’t think of anything worse than being ignored or rejected. The chances of those are very small. Most people respond warmly to people who approach them in an open and friendly way.

Be like my little Lovey bird, and raise your curiosity quotient!
