How did you become a public speaking coach?
I was once “the shyest girl in the world” and did my best not to stand out in any way. That changed when I accepted a position as sales manager for a seminar company in San Francisco. Stepping into that role pushed me into the spotlight and led me through the challenging (and ultimately rewarding) process of becoming a public speaking coach. Today, I use that journey to help others find their own voice and confidence.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
- Business owners and entrepreneurs
- Entertainers
- Tradespeople
- Attorneys, CPAs, bankers, and financial advisors
- CEOs and executives
- Teenagers and young adults
In short, I work with people from all walks of life who want to improve how they present themselves and their ideas.
When is one-on-one coaching recommended?
One-on-one sessions are a good fit when you have specific communication goals. People work with me individually when they want to:
- Develop or refine an important presentation
- Deliver a persuasive sales presentation
- Position themselves for a promotion
- Prepare for a job interview
- Finally have that “difficult conversation”
I tailor the work to your goals, and offer clear and practical feedback you can use right away.
What workshop topics do you offer?
- Harmonize Your Instruments for Powerful Communication
- How to Give a Presentation Tomorrow and Sleep Well Tonight
- Feedback: The Breakfast of Champions
- “Not This Again!”: Eighteen Challenges Hawaii’s Leaders Face and How to Rise Above Them
- How to Turn Satisfied Customers into Loyal Customers
- Networking Events: Meet These Three People
- Dining Etiquette Made Easy
- What Everyone Needs to Know About Business Etiquette
You’re welcome to request a topic that isn’t on this list. I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
What is your teaching style?
- Interactive – Participants are actively involved rather than passively listening.
- Entertaining – People are surprised by how much fun my sessions are.
- Practical – I provide concrete tools and techniques you can use immediately.
Some feedback from clients:
- “She tells it like it is and you’ll love her for it.”
- “She gives you feedback in a way that makes you feel good about yourself.”
- “The time flies by! I never thought I’d laugh so much.”
- “You will learn logical tips you’ve never heard before.”
- “Her classes are ‘life changing.’”
- “I didn’t expect to discover that I had so much hidden talent!”
- “Pam has patience, courage, compassion, and boundless energy when it comes to guiding people through the learning process.”
Have you received recognition for your work?
I was named by Honolulu Magazine as one of Hawaii’s 10 Most Admired Women; I coached the nine speakers featured at TEDx Honolulu in 2012; one of my books, Public Speaking Made Easy, made the bestseller list in Hawaii.
How many sessions will I need for one-on-one coaching?
I usually require a commitment of three 1-hour sessions spaced one week apart. In rare cases though, one session might be sufficient. An initial 10-minute phone call should point us in the right direction.
What does one-on-one coaching cost?
The cost for three 1-hour sessions is $650.00 + tax, payable in advance.
Where are sessions held?
Sessions are held downtown at Central Pacific Bank. But if you have a private space where you feel comfortable, we can consider that. On occasion, a virtual meeting may be appropriate.
Do you help people create PowerPoint presentations?
Yes, in a revolutionary way. You must be prepared to ditch zillions of words that no one can read (or that YOU might read to us). My method is almost exclusively reliant on the use of images that instantly communicate your message and that keep you on track.
What are your fees for workshops for my work team?
That depends on a few factors: How many people will participate? How much time is involved? How much research will I need to do to prepare curriculum for you? Our initial meeting will allow me to develop a proposal for your consideration.
